Whole Platform Modelling
A diverse range of platforms can be modelled from naval surface and submarine combatants to civilian vessels, UUVs and land and hard targets.

Each model contains a 3D structural definition, compartment layout, critical equipment definition & geometry while its systems are modelled logically as fault trees.
Full Spectrum Threats
A full range of threats can be modelled within Purple Fire which includes their payload, fusing and kinetic characteristics, penetration performance and fragment distributions.

Purple Fire can simulate a vast multitude of possible threat-target interaction scenarios giving the analyst complete freedom to specify attack locations, salvos targeting biasing, etc.
Manifold Damage Algorithms
Each encounter is simulated to assess the impact of all the relevant damage mechanisms: external / internal blast, fragmentation, shock, whipping and bubble jetting and secondary effects including fire and flooding.

Purple Fire generates a wealth of output data for analysis. This includes crew casualties and equipment & system vulnerabilities in both statistical and graphical forms to supporting the analyst to rapidly determine problems and suggest their mitigations.
Massive Parameter Spaces
Built from the outset to handle vast data sets, Purple Fire is ideally suited to running complex optimisation studies involving multiple target threat combinations over a diverse range of scenarios.

Purple Fire allows for rapid variation of platform, threat, and scenario parameters for the generation of vast studies coupled with an automatic analysis capability to extract and post-process results, ensuring less time on file preparation and more time on engineering.
Advanced Simulation Features
Purple Fire also offers advanced survivability assessment techiniques including complex magazine reaction assessments and residual strength post damage as well as probabilistic escape and evacuation analysis using the FSEG's Maritime EXODUS from the University of Greenwich.
Training Courses

SCL offers a two day training course with dual screen set-ups for an interactive and immersive experience with Purple Fire. The course covers:

  • Platform creation tutorial from scratch to full model: hullform, external appendages, decks, stiffeners, doors, equipment, and systems;
  • Advanced capabilities (system criticality, escape and evac, residual strength);
  • Threat and scenario creation - stage a missile striking your platform;
  • Batch parameterisation and execution - rapidly vary the threat and its approach and analyse results;
  • Familiarisation with Purple Fire documentation - get ready to take the next steps.

A one day basic course can be arranged which forgoes detailed platform edits for above and focus on basic use and examplar assessments.

These courses can be provided remotely at the contractor's premises.

A detailed quote can be provided apon request.
